Middle School Faith Formation Volunteers
Accountable to: Director of Youth Discipleship
Responsibilities: Provide support to large group activities such as games, dinner time, and lectures. Facilitate small group breakout sessions, preparing the appropriate material and resources for enriching discussion.
Time Commitment: One faith formation year consisting of bi-monthly classes on Thursday evenings from 6-8pm, and any necessary meetings as determined by the Director of Youth Discipleship. Catechists should expect to spend 8-10 hours every month teaching and preparing to teach for the duration of the faith formation year.
Total Hours for the Year: 90 hours
Length of Commitment: Minimum of One Year (September-May)
Duties:
Attend all Middle School Faith Formation classes in addition to necessary meetings.
Prepare to assist as needed during large group class, and keep a vigilant eye out while providing support and supervising.
Ensure middle schoolers participate in small group discussion and complete their homework as necessary.
Encourage middle schoolers to make the faith their own, attend mass, and participate in other parish ministries.

· Effective and dynamic communication skills
· Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills
· Dependable, mature, responsible and ability to work alone with a group of preteens
· Experience working with middle school aged children
· Experience as an educator or mentor
