BECOMING CATHOLIC
God continues to call people into the Church founded by His Son, Jesus Christ, on the rock of St. Peter. Adults who wish to explore what it means to be a Catholic, and if they so choose, to enter the Church, participate in a program we call the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, or RCIA for short.
You begin by meeting with a member of the formation team to discuss your faith journey. Then, you take part in classes about the faith. As you learn and pray and experience Catholic Christian community, you discern whether God is calling you to become a Catholic. At some point, you make a decision accepted by the Church to begin a period of more intense preparation, culminating in the receiving of the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist) at the Easter Vigil (see video from our 2019 Vigil below).
RCIA is for those who are unbaptized, those baptized in a non-Catholic faith community, and those baptized Catholics who have not made their First Communion.
Classes will begin in September.
If you or someone you know is interested in exploring the Catholic faith, please e-mail olmcrcia@gmail.com to schedule an initial conversation.

My wife, Linda and I were looking for a church. Linda definitely wanted to be Catholic and I thought I would just go along with her wishes. God had a strong hand in guiding us (especially me) to RCIA. No coincidence there. Best move we could have ever done. Linda, the love of my life, passed away a few weeks ago, but I thank God that I have made this decision to be a part of this church. I just keep coming back.—Reg
“God is always waiting for us to give him our yes, waiting with open arms, God is not always going to provide that burning bush, the signs are often more subtle than that.” best said by Father Anthony during a homily that made me say o.k. let's check this out.... Just say YES! Accepting God's love will change your life!—Amber
When I married by Catholic husband, I was expelled from my childhood church. That is when we decided to raise our family as Catholic. Years went by of our family attending Mass every week, years went by hearing the RCIA announcement every year, and every year I considered joining RCIA but I wasn't quite ready. I was torn between the teachings I grew up learning and the little whispers from God calling me to the true faith. It was when my 2nd born received his first communion I finally responded to God's call. It was the missing piece to make our family a true family in the eyes of God. When the RCIA announcement was made in Mass about this time last year, my boys nudged me and said "It's time mom." This is where my faith journey brought me to the RCIA program.—Lysabeth
I am so deeply grateful for my experience in RCIA. I learned so much about the Catholic faith and what it truly means to be part of the Body of Christ. RCIA is truly life changing. I’m so blessed to have been a part of it and to share my experience with such a wonderful and diverse group of people who were just as eager, if not more so, to know Jesus and to serve Him.—Karin
